Popular Eatery To Close In West Haven, Expand With Food Trucks

WEST HAVEN, CT — Popular barbecue restaurant Uncle Willie’s is closing its West Haven location as part of an expansion plan that will include putting mini food trucks on the road throughout Connecticut, according to the New Haven Register.

The Register reports the Uncle Willie’s Smokehouse BBQ restaurant at 473 Saw Mill Road in West Haven will close for good on Saturday, Dec. 29 and the company will begin testing the mini food trucks in Meriden and Rocky Hill in about two weeks. The company plans to test the mini food trucks for about 30-45 days before expanding with more vehicles statewide, including in New Haven County, according to the Register.

Customers will be able to place their orders through a mobile app for Uncle Willie’s items and fare from other eateries under the parent company Jake’s Franchising, which includes Jake’s Wayback Burgers, according to the Register.
